Join our OSA Crew for an incredible experience:
  Sail roundtrip Charleston/Daytona/Charleston

Memorial Day Weekend every other year since 1998

The Gulfstreamer Race starts Friday, May 28th at the sea buoy in Ponce Inlet, Florida. The race begins with the traditional "race within a race" as skippers and crew sail a sprint race the first 10 miles to the Daytona Beach Pier for a separate "sprint" trophy.

Racers will continue as we turn our sailing tactics from a short sprint to a test of endurance and seamanship as we head towards Charleston, approximately 215 nautical miles to the north. The skippers and crew should be finishing the Race Saturday evening and Sunday morning as Charleston kicks off our annual arts and cultural festival, Spoleto.

Our itinerary:
  • Monday May 24: in Charleston: boat prep ~ systems, provisions
  • Tuesday morning: depart for Daytona, sail through the night
  • Wednesday eve: arrive in St. Augustine.  Spend the night
  • Thursday: depart for Daytona.
  • Thurs night: Rum Party & Dinner Buffet. Free rum at Tiki Bar, steel drum music
  • Fri morning: Yacht Club breakfast. Race from Daytona to Charleston
  • Sunday, May 30: Arrive Charleston
  • Monday night: Awards ceremony & dinner
There will be 6 of us.  Are you ready to join us?
Call Ned 843-971-0700 to talk about it.

Sunset Cruise & Overnight Anchor in Scenic Charleston Harbor

Your most romantic night in Charleston will be spent on a private yacht sailing the calm harbor at sunset.  Your captain will prepare a delicious meal and invite you to follow dinner with a bottle of wine on deck, watching the twinkling lights of Charleston over calm water.

You'll spend the night at anchor in a calm, scenic spot.  Feel the gentle lap of water at night, and awaken to the throaty morning call of shorebirds as the sunrise reflects gloriously over the water.

Your captain is an instructor at our academy and welcomes participation at any level you may enjoy in sailing. All our instructors are personable and intuitive, and trained to provide our guests a safe and enjoyable backdrop to their cruise.

Itinerary:
Board your yacht at 4 pm for a sunset cruise on a 42' yacht followed by dinner with a bottle of wine.   Spend the night at secluded anchor in Charleston Harbor.  Awaken to the smells of breakfast cooking and enjoy your coffee on deck.  After breakfast, cruise the harbor.  We'll have you back to the slip by noon.

Rate: $765 all inclusive for 2 people

Special Couples Offering

Weekend Escapes to the Wild
Overnight skippered passage for 2 or 4

...to beautiful Price Inlet or the hauntingly remote N. Edisto River

Price Inlet

50 miles north of Charleston there's an inlet between 2 remote islands: Bull Island, a federal wildlife reserve in Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, and Caper's Island, a state wildlife sanctuary. No human structures are in sight and the sky is crowded with stars.

Sail up the coast for a few hours. Participate as much as you'd like in the sail and meal preparation, and then enjoy relaxing under the stars. First class all the way...

2-day Overnight: $1320/couple for the skippered charter, includes provisions

North Edisto River

Half a day's sail south of Charleston is an inlet that dolphins seem to rank highly; never has there been an afternoon when we didn't see a group cavorting there. This very broad inlet with an island bird sanctuary at its mouth lies at the ocean edge of the 340,000 acre ACE Basin, the largest private/public land conservation experiment on the east coast. The variety of shore birds is tremendous, and the open expanses are endless.

Participate actively in sailing to the extent that you're interested in doing so.

2-day Overnight: $1320/couple for the skippered charter, including provisions

Quarterly Solstice & Equinox Celebrations

What better place to celebrate than from a floating island in the water under huge skies, in the wind and under sail on an Ocean Sailing Academy boat as part of our quarterly Solstice & Equinox Cruises and Flotilla Celebrations?

"The Earth takes approximately 365.25 days to go around the Sun. This is the reason we have a leap year every 4 years: to add another day to our calendar so that there is not a gradual drift of date through the seasons. For the same reason, the precise times of the equinoxes are not the same each year and generally will occur about 6 hours later each year, with a jump of a day (backwards) on leap years."

This year the dates fall on March 20, June 21, September 22 and Dec. 21. Evening flotillas will return just after sunset or spend the night out so you can experience the absolute completion of each full day.

Feel the evening breeze at that precise moment when the sun goes down and you're feeling the last rays of the longest day of the year. Join us on a sail where the water all around will reflect what we anticipate to be a magnificent sunset.

On the equinox, Tuesday September 22, the sun sets at 7:16. So we'll launch at 5:30 and return at 7:30.

If you'd like, bring something to toast with on this very special, most magnificent day of the year.
